Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a political movement named BAT 23 has been launched in Abuja to mobilise support for Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Though he has not officially declared his interest, there have been repeated speculations that the former Lagos governor is eyeing the number one seat in the country on the platform of the APC.
Daily Trust reported that the new political movement's national coordinator, Umar Inusa, said the group consisted of Tinubu’s supporters who were drawn from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Inusa explained that the movement was formed to canvass support for Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, Tinubu is a highly experienced leader who has the required political tact to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
His words: “Tinubu is a leader who transforms nothing into something and feeds his people from the riches of what has been so transformed."
“That is the man of calibre and pedigree, a charismatic and selfless leader we pray to canvass support to pilot the affairs of this nation and take it to the promised land," Inusa added.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Babachir Lawal, a former secretary the government of the federation, has tipped former Tinubu for the presidency in 2023.
Lawal who added his voice to the recurring 2023 presidency discourse and the politics of zoning, said the APC national leader must be given a strong backing to succeed President Buhari because he has done a lot for the ruling party.
The former SGF, who declared himself as a "Tinubu man", further stated that he (Tinubu) was the financial powerhouse of President Buhari in 2015.
