Declan Rice becomes the latest Chelsea target after the Blues have gotten their bid for Edouard Mendy accepted - with Frank Lampard now turning his attention on the West Ham star.

Senegal international Edouard Mendy is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League outfit Chelsea this summer with reports that the he is already on his way to London.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper is expected to have his medical at the Cobham training complex this weekend.

Reports claim the Blues have reached an agreement with French League side Rennes over the transfer of their player after a breakthrough in talks between the two parties yesterday.

And with that, Frank Lampard is looking to add Rice who has been long linked with the Stamford Bridge club.

As soon as a deal for Mendy is done and dusted, the West Ham midfielder could become the club's next big-money signing, according to Fabrizio Romano.

And Frank Lampard has been warned he risks being axed as Chelsea manager if the club fails to challenge for titles next season after the club's summer spending spree.

The Blues have thus far spent over £200million on four major signings including Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Kai Havertz.

Meanwhile, earlier reported that Chelsea are reportedly planning to hand Belgian star Michy Batshuayi a new one-year contract extension before sending him back to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal.

The 26-year-old's current deal with the Blues is expected to run out in June 2021, but the Stamford Bridge outfit has decided to extend his reign beyond then.

Batshuayi has struggled for regular playing time at the London club following his £33 million move from Marseille in 2016.
