Twenty days after suspension, Ekiti Assembly finally reinstates LG boss suspended over Fayemi's posters

Twenty days after he was suspended for posting the campaign posters of the Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi, on social media, the state House of Assembly has reinstated the chairman of Ikere local government area of the state, Femi Ayodele.

The Nation reports that he was suspended for allegedly sponsoring unauthorised presidential campaign posters for Governor Fayemi.

Legit.ng gathered that Ayodele was reinstated on Friday, September 11, through a unanimous resolution by the state Assembly following the adoption of the report of the House committee on chieftaincy and local government affairs submitted by its chairman, Tope Ogunleye.

Gboyega Aribasoye, the majority leader of the House moved the motion for the adoption of the resolution and was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ikere constituency 2, Tunde Idowu.

Recalls that he was suspended on August 21, for allegedly sponsoring campaign posters canvassing for Governor Fayemi to contest as a presidential candidate under APC in 2023.

The chairman of the committee, who read the report at the plenary presided over by the speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, said investigation carried out revealed that the council chairman was unaware of the alleged unsolicited and unauthorised presidential campaign posters.

He said: “Our investigation revealed that Femi Ayodele, the Ikere local government chairman was not involved in the alleged unsolicited and unauthorised presidential campaign in the media.

“We hereby recommend that the suspension imposed on the chairman be lifted to allow him to resume duties accordingly."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that it was a shock for some Nigerians to find the campaign poster of Governor Fayemi ahead of the 2023 presidential election online.

It was reported that the posters were spread on social media by Ayodele. He added that Fayemi's commitment, resourcefulness and pedigree empower him to be able to lead the nation in the next political dispensation.

In another reported that Ayodele was suspended by the state House of Assembly over an alleged unauthorised presidential campaign poster for Governor Fayemi.
