Legit.ng gathered that the Yoruba title means “the peacemaker” and he will be the governor in the next few weeks.
Baffa said the Ooni announced this award when he visited Governor Matawalle in Abuja recently.
According to the media aide, the Ife monarch praised Matawalle as a detribalised leader and politician, saying his good intention was responsible for the success he has achieved in bringing peace to Zamfara state.
He said the quality of Matawalle’s leadership should be emulated by all the governors because he has not only proved to be an able leader to his people by restoring peace to the state, but also a worthy leader to others as he now serves as a bridge-builder.
Governor Matawalle appreciated the monarch's gesture and promised to be in Ile-Ife soon to be formally bestowed with the title.
Meanwhile, Governor Matawalle earlier made a very strong indictment against Nigerian politicians in connection to the rising insecurity in the country.
Matawalle claimed that sect of politicians in the country are actually beneficiaries of the poor state of security resulting in the constant killing, kidnapping and violent crimes and prefer the status quo to be maintained.
The northern governor made this allegation at the Special Army Super Camp 4 in Faskari town in Katsina state on Tuesday, August 11.
In another report on chieftaincy honours, Legit.ng previously reported that three titleholders of the Shinkafi Emirate Council of Zamfara state recently tendered their letter of resignation.
The resignation was over the chieftaincy title conferred on former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
In a statement signed by the three officials, there are conditions in which such titles should be conferred and the former minister has not met any of them.
