A fresh leadership crisis is rocking the Jigawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the ruling party suspended Habibu Sara, the state chairman indefinitely.

According to The Nation, Sara was suspended on Wednesday, September 9, after a meeting of the state party caucus held at Dutse Government House.

Though the APC did not disclose the reason for suspending the chairman, a source within the party said the move was in connection with the 2023 general elections.

Muhd Umar, the party's secretary was appointed to take over from Sara pending the APC's next line of action.

The suspended chairman speaking to the newspaper publication via the phone said his suspension is an act of God.

Sara promised to remain a loyal party member, adding that he is ready to do everything within the law to promote and maintain the progress of APC.

His suspension is coming a few days after Daniel Nwafor, the factional chairman of the ruling party in Imo state was suspended.

Nwafor, who is the chairman of APC in Imo recognised by the former governor of the state Rochas Okorocha, was handed marching orders over alleged gross indiscipline and insubordination.

In a statement released to newsmen on Sunday, September 6, in Owerri, Marcellinus Nlemigbo, who is another chairman, said Nwafor was suspended for failing to appear before the party's disciplinary committee.

Aguma was suspended on Monday, June 22, over disobedience to the spirit and letters of the high court judgement that appointed him as the chairman.

Sokonte Davies, another party member, was appointed to take over in acting caretaker capacity.

Aguma's suspension came on the heels of internal leadership crisis which has left the ruling party in shambles from national headquarters.
