German professional footballer Kai Havertz has reportedly requested for the jersey number 29 at Premier League side Chelsea ahead of the coming 2020/21 topflight season.

Frank Lampard and his chiefs got the signing of the 21-year-old from Bayer Leverkusen and he is expected to help the Blues in their campaign next term in the Champions League.

Many thought that Havertz would ask for Willian's jersey number after his move to Arsenal, but according to the Athletic, he is interested in Fikayo Tomori's shirt.

Demba Ba and Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o are among the players who have previously worn the No.29 at Stamford B ridge.

As it stands now, Kai Havertz will now have to wait until Fikayo Tomori move to Everton on loan this summer so as to get the jersey number he asked for.

Tomori played 22 times for Chelsea in all competitions last term, and won his first England cap against Kosovo in November 2019.

Nigerians expected Tomori to choose the Super Eagles, but the player preferred the Three Lions of England.

Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic who wore the jersey number 22 last season at Chelsea has been given the number 10 after the exit of Willian.

Chelsea will start their campaign in the coming season against Brighton in what is expected to be a tough encounter.
