A media aide to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Mr Crusoe Osagie, has called on security agencies in the country to invite businessman, Captain Hosa Okunbo over the comment he made concerning the forthcoming Edo governorship election.
Osagie stated that Okunbo is the sponsor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
According to him, “Okunbo threatened in a widely published newspaper interview he granted journalists in Abuja, that if his 3,000 militants in the Niger Delta region get the nod from him, they would overrun Benin city.”
Osagie noted that: “Okunbo’s subtle threat leaves a lot of gaps that need to be filled by security agencies. He said he has 3,000 youths he is partnering within the Niger Delta region.”
He queried: “What kind of partnership does he have with these militants? How did he become their Commander-In-Chief? Why is it that we are only at peace in Benin city simply because he has decided to be merciful by not giving the go-ahead to them to invade Edo?”
He stated that: “The security agencies need to establish the identities of these militants and the nature of partnership between them and Okunbo, as we go into the Edo gubernatorial poll.”
Meanwhile, an ardent supporter of Governor Obaseki and publisher, Lukman Akemokue, has said that Ize-Iyamu and the ex-national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, will face defeat in the hands of well-meaning Edo people at the poll.
According to Akemolue, Governor Obaseki's victory at the forthcoming Edo governorship election on Saturday, September 19 is sacrosanct.
Akemokue who spoke to journalists in Benin city, the Edo state capital, said Governor Obaseki is not contesting against Osagie Ize-Iyamu, but Oshiomhole.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship aspirant in Edo state, Ken Imasuangbon, has said Comrade Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu are fighting a lost battle.
According to Imasuangbon, the governorship election has already been won and lost, stating that the PDP and its candidate, Governor Obaseki, are enjoying massive support from the electorate and the people of the state.
