- Several clubs including Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were interested in the signing of the teenage sensation
Man United have reportedly fended-off stiff competition from a number of clubs to land the signature of Atletico Madrid youngster Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho has spent a better part of his career with Atletico, growing through the ranks at the La Liga club.
Daily Mail citing Spanish outlet Marca reports United won the race to land the promising footballer on a five-year deal.
It is believed Garnacho snubbed possible moves to several clubs including Real Madrid to join the Red Devils.
Borussia Dortmund are also thought to have unsuccessfully attempted to lure the Atletico Under-19 star to Germany.
The 16-year-old's move to Old Trafford came at a time Atletico were looking to have him commit his future with them.
The Spaniard will now link up with United's youth system where he will continue his development.
He will join hot prospects Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez both who joined the Manchester club this summer.
Jurado signed from Barcelona after he turned-down a new deal with the Catalan giants, with Fernandez joining from Real Madrid.
United are set to officially unveil the trio before the start of the new season.
Ronald Koeman is looking to rebuild his team with the inclusion of the Netherlands star as Luis Suarez is heading for the exit door.
Lyon manager Rudi Garcia has refused to stand in the way of the former Man United striker who scored 15 goals last term.
However, Legit.ng earlier reported that N’Golo Kante is now a surprise target for Manchester United with latest reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with the Frenchman ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
UK outlet Daily Star reports that United are monitoring the Frenchman’s status at Stamford Bridge as the Blues have placed €60million price-tag to raise funds for their next target Declan Rice.
It was gathered that United boss Solskjaer is impressed with Kante and is ready to bring the defensive midfielder to the club should Chelsea be willing to let go.
