- Victor Osimhen snubbed Manchester United because of Odion Ighalo
- Osimhen did not want to be competing for shirts with the Super Eagles legend
- Odion Ighalo joined Manchester United on loan from Shanghai Shenhua
Andrew who is the elder brother of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has explained that the Napoli man turned down move to Manchester United because of his respect for Odion Ighalo.
Before the cancellation of last season in France, Victor Osimhen has already netted 18 goals for Lille and also created six assists in all competitions.
This made many clubs in Europe to show interest for the signing of the Super Eagles striker who eventually joined Italian giants Napoli this summer.
While speaking with Complete Sports, Andrew stated emphatically that Manchester United were also interested in the signing of his younger brother.
“It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague.
“My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn’t see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goal-scorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt,'' he told Complete Sports.
Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo and his Manchester United teammates are preparing for the start of the coming Premier League season where they will face Crystal Palace.
United will also be playing in the Champions League which will be a great chance for Odion Ighalo to show himself again.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen was nicknamed as 'mister hat-trick' by Napoli fans who have been so pleased with his games since he joined the Italian side.
Victor Osimhen has been in great and stunning form for Gattuso's side since he joined from Lille and has scored hat-trick twice in pre-season games.
Before joining Napoli from Lille, Victor Osimhen was also in fantastic form in France netting 18 goals for the club in all competitions.
This made Napoli chiefs to enter the transfer market and paid Lille big money to have the signature of the Super Eagles striker.
Osimhen has now been proving that Napoli chiefs have made the right choice by bringing him to the club this summer.
