Following her defection and refusal to come back to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba state, former minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba has annoyed the leadership of the party in the state.
Specifically, APC described her as irrelevant in political calculations in the state. The 'inconsequential' tag was given by Taraba APC chairman, Hon. Ibrahim El-Sudi.
He said this while addressing newsmen in Abuja after a meeting of stakeholders with the chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CENCPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, The Nation reports.
El-Sudi insisted that her absence from the party will not affect its fortunes.
“You can see that all the juggernauts, movers, and shakers, all the caterpillars and bulldozers of the APC in the state are here with me and there is no way only one person who does not want to accept the reality will be greater than them.
“After all, when she moved to another party and contested, how many vote did she get? She got only 16,000 plus.
“But APC got over 340,000 votes. So, her movement has not shaken APC in Taraba State. It is in the heart of Tarabans that they want APC and they will continue to support APC.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a former governor of Adamawa state, Bala James Ngilari, has defected to the APC.
Giving reasons for his defection, Ngilari lamented that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has not been fair to him.
He said his defection will be formally made known soon, adding that some chieftains of the PDP and thousands of his loyalists will join him in defecting to the APC.
Legit.ng also reported that Buhari has been commended for effectively managing Nigeria's economy. The commendation was given by governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In another development, a non-profit advocacy organisation based in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Centre for Public Trust (CPT), noted this recently in its reaction to the defection of Honourable Chidi Llyod from the APC to the PDP.
Llyod had served as the director-general of the APC governorship campaign in Rivers state in 2019.
