A dad from New Zealand is guilty of letting his emotions get the better of him after he totalled his car under avoidable circumstances.
Andrew John Earl, who owned a KSh 27 million (N95,484,871.06) replica Ford GT40, wanted to look cool in the eyes of his teenage daughter’s new lover.
According to Otago Daily Times, the dad met with his 16-year-old’s partner while driving a Porsche 911 then gave the young boy a tour of his sports car collection.
The two then left in Earl’s Ford GT40 as the chap attempted to show his daughter’s new catch how powerful his machine was.
While flexing his muscles and trying to look like a chilled out father, the man sped through traffic and swerved into the left lane.
The 48-year-old was attempting to overtake a vehicle that was ahead of him when he lost control and crashed into a barrier.
One of the doors flung off and the whole vehicle was mangled into an unrecognisable wreck.
To make matters worse, Earl had to deal with a KSh 3 million (N10,609,430.12) damage as he had not insured his sports car.
A judge banned the dad from driving for eight months and asked him to pay a fine of KSh 162,000 (N572,909.23).
"It was most definitely not my proudest moment. I am really happy no one got hurt. It could have been worse," Earl said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a man’s expensive and romantic proposal preparation faced a major draw-back after he accidentally set his own apartment ablaze.
The man reportedly lit hundreds of candles for the romantic gesture. South Yorkshire Fire Service and Rescue Service in England, who responded to distress calls, reported in a post on social media that the incident happened in August.
The Service revealed it was caused by a man who left hundreds of tea light candles burning while he left the flat to pick up his girlfriend from work. Unfortunately, by the time he returned to his flat the entire place was engulfed in flames.
