Ethan Ampadu has moved to the Bramal Lane Stadium to join Premier League side Sheffield United where he will continue his development in what would be his second temporary switch.
The youngster who will be 20 on September 14 spent last season on loan at German club RB Leipzig where he was a team-mate of new Chelsea boy Timo Werner.
Ampadu was impressive for the Bundesliga side as he played full 90 minutes to help the club defeat Tottenham in the Champions League round of 16 before they later crashed out in the semi-final.
The Wales’ international joined the Blues in 2017 and later become the eight-youngest debutant in the Carabao Cup when he featured for Chelsea that year.
Chelsea wrote in a statement on their website: “He joins a Sheffield United side that surprised many by finishing in ninth place in the Premier League last season following their promotion from the Championship."
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is now a surprise target for Manchester United with latest reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with the Frenchman ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
