On Monday, Okunomo finally parted the party and headed to ZLP where he will be reinforcing the army of Olusegun Mimiko and Agboola Ajayi, Ondo deputy governor.

Ondo state governorship election has been scheduled for October 10, 2020, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Okunomo said he was leaving the PDP alongside 15,000 loyal members across the 18 local government areas at a formal declaration.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Agboola Ajayi finally dumped the PDP following his failure to clinch the party's guber ticket.

Ajayi resigned from PDP less than fifty days after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) in what climaxed the political feud between him and his principal Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The deputy governor would contest the state guber election on the platform of the ZLP after being cleared by the national executive committee of the party.
