A presidential aide has disclosed that Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari is unhappy over a cartoon image of her daughter’s recent wedding.
The cartoon had depicted an image of the First Lady showing the invitation of her daughter’s wedding while Nigerians were drowning.
He said the wedding between Hanan Buhari and Mohammed Sha’aban had nothing to do with the present hardship Nigerians are facing.
Abdullahi explained that the First Lady had taken measures to ensure that the wedding was simple; noting that she even told her aides not to make the wedding extravagant.
In other news, a senior special assistant to Aisha Buhari has denied reports that his principal was critically sick as claimed by many local media houses.
Aliyu Abdullahi also debunked viral claims that the first lady fell sick after paying a condolence visit to the wife of the former governor of Oyo, Florence Abiola Ajimobi, The Nation reported.
The media aide to the president's wife said that she is not in any emergency health condition.
Meanwhile, a report by New Telegraph has suggested that the chief of staff to the president of Nigeria, Professor Ibrahim Gambari is not as powerful as his late predecessor, Mallam Abba Kyari in the presidential villa.
Quoting unnamed sources in Nigeria's seat of power, the report detailed how Gambari has had to rely on 'orders from above' to carry out his duties.
In another report, President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the recent increase in both the electricity tariffs and the pump price of petrol which generated criticism among some Nigerians.
Buhari on Monday, September 7, said the electricity tariffs adjustment was made in order to address the power supply challenges Nigerians have experienced over the years, The Nation reported.
According to the president, he knows the recent changes may cause discomfort to Nigerians.
