- Sergio Romero wanted by Premier League giants Chelsea
- The Argentine has been previously linked with a move to Aston Villa as a replacement for Tom Heaton
- Romero has just 12 months left on his current deal with the Red Devils having joined them in 2015
- Dean Henderson's return to Old Trafford could expedite his move away from Old Trafford this summer
Chelsea are reportedly shifting their focus to landing Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero this summer.
The Argentine has further fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford after Dean Henderson returned from his loan spell at Sheffield United.
Although he has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, the Blues are however planning to beat the Premier League rivals to his signature as reported by Birmingham Live.
The 33-year-old has made just seven Premier League appearances since he joined the Red Devils from Sampdoria in 2015.
He conceded 27 goals and kept 39 clean sheets in 61 matches across competitions, but he might have to leave them this summer despite having 12 more months on his deal.
Romero also helped United move to the latter stages of the Europa League last campaign before sitting him out for David De Gea against Sevilla - and they were dumped out at the end of the game.
The Argentine might be pushed out of Old Trafford with Henderson signing a new bumper deal with the Red Devils.
Villa are said to be considering a move for the goaltender after Tom Heaton is not expected back until some time in October.
The 34-year-old has continued to recover from the knee ligament damage he suffered earlier this year.
They could however face stern competition from Chelsea, who are desperately looking for Kepa Arrizabalaga's replacement.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United are planning to include their goalkeeper Sergio Romero as part of the deal to land Jack Grealish this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Aston Villa midfielder as they continue to strengthen their squad for the coming season.
They will, however, be faced with a set back as Chelsea are said to have made the Argentine a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga who could leave Stamford Bridge.
