Just weeks to the much-awaited gubernatorial election in Ondo, some thugs have reportedly invaded the state's House of Assembly, aiming to attack lawmakers.
The Sun reports that the hoodlums barricaded the entrance into the complex in order to prevent the entry of lawmakers who are said to be loyal to the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Numbering about 100, the thugs were seen on Monday, September 7, at the gate of the building with their vehicles parked outside.
Some reports have it that this development is not unconnected to the recent unrest that has taken over the Assembly following Ajayi's defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
To avoid any attack on lawmakers, policemen were said to have waded into the scene and prevented the thugs from gaining access to the chamber.
Added to this effort, security operatives all began a serious search of persons who intend to enter the building.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the move by the Ondo House of Assembly to suspend one of its lawmakers, Success Torhukerhijo, was halted by a high court in the state on Tuesday, August 11.
The order of the court barring the suspension of Torhukerhijo who represents Ese-Odo constituency by the speaker of the House, Hon Bamidele Oleyeloogun, was read by Justice Ademola Bola.
The ex-parte order granted by the court stopped the House, the speaker and all parties named in the suit from suspending Torhukerhijo.
Also, one of the victims of the processes of impeaching the deputy governor of Ondo, Agboola Ajayi, was the deputy speaker of the state's House of Assembly, Ogundeji Iroju.
Other members of the Assembly that were suspended are Adewale Williams of Ondo West Constituency II and Semilore Tomomewo of Ilaje II Constituency.
