- There are indications that the Ondo gubernatorial election will be a tough battle
- The PDP in the state has promised to surprise the ruling APC and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu
- Moreover, reacting to Asiwaju Tinubu's claim that it is dead, the opposition said the APC should get ready for an unpleasant shock
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state has reacted to Asiwaju Bola Asiwaju Tinubu's claim that the opposition party is dead.
The All Progressives Congress (APC)'s national leader made this claim during his speech at the inauguration ceremony of the Ondo Internal Revenue Service Complex, in Akure on Saturday, September 5.
Responding to the remark of the former governor of Lagos, the leadership of the PDP in Ondo said the party will surprise the APC in the coming election.
The spokesman of the PDP in the state, Kennedy Peretei, said even nature, by sending heavy downpour during the said ceremony, is against the APC.
The PDP boasted that contrary to the governor's imposed high tuition fees that have forced many students in the state out of school, it is "offering affordable education and health care delivery as against Aketi‘s engineered astronomical tuition fees that have thrown many of the students in tertiary institutions out of school.”
Peretei, in the statement, alleged: “It is shameful that the only project APC came to inaugurate in three and a half years is the Revenue House, a building that stands as a signpost of multiple taxation of the Ondo state people, 10 per cent of which goes to the pocket of Akeredolu’s son."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Tinubu had revealed sacrifices he made for peace to be restored to the party in the state.
Tinubu confessed that he made himself available when some APC leaders in the state sought to reach him before the party primaries to raise questions regarding Governor Akeredolu.
The former Lagos governor said he didn’t make himself unavailable to hurt or insult anyone but because he knew the depth of character and the high quality of the Ondo APC leaders.
He spoke in Akure on Saturday, September 5, where he commissioned the newly built edifice of the Ondo Internal Revenue Service.
