Antoine Griezmann has reacted to the whole transfer debacle involving his team-mate Lionel Messi at Barcelona as he urges the Argentine to remain with the Camp Nou side.
The Catalan giants’ fans can now heave a huge sigh of relief after their captain confirms he will continue at the club next season.
Messi who handed-in his transfer request at the club has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou with Manchester City tipped as possible destination for the forward.
It had been a wild two weeks at the club over the future of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, but he has agreed to play at the club for another year.
His team-mate Griezmann backed the decision to stay with the club adding that whatever differences the Argentine has is with the club.
Griezmann told M6 via SunSport: "We are trying to stay updated with the issue, but it is between him and the club.
"We only hope that he stays.
"I am trying to stay focused on the national team and prepare well for the next two games.
"We have heard a little of everything but we don't know anything else about all this affair."
Recall that it was an intense training session for Barcelona as former manager Quique Setien had to separate the bust-up between Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.
Both players reportedly had a clash in training and it could be as a result of Barcelona’s 0-0 draw with Sevilla on Friday, June 20.
There were reports that the Catalan club would sell the Frenchman with Manchester United, reportedly interested in the star, but new boss Ronald Koeman seems to be impressed with him.
