President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ibrahim Mairiga as the executive secretary of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB).
The appointment was announced by Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) on Friday, September 4, in Abuja.
According to Yemi-Esan, the appointment took effect from July 24 for a term of four years in the first instance, NAN reported.
She advised Mairiga to bring his wealth of experience and knowledge to enable the board to realise its mandate.
Before his current appointment, Mairiga was the director of employment mobility and was overseeing the office of the permanent secretary, career management in the office of the HOCSF.
The new appointee is a native from Gombe state. He is reported to have attended many professional courses within and outside Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the federal government has assured Nigerians that transparency will guide the selection process for the N-Power Batch C enrolment.
Hajia Sadiya Farouq, the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, gave the assurance on Thursday, September 3, in Abuja at the interactive forum with state focal persons for the social Investment programmes, Vanguard reported.
The minister said her ministry was already in the process of selecting qualified beneficiaries from among the over 5 million candidates who applied for enrollment into the N-Power Batch C scheme.
In another news report, the Nigerian government has disclosed that successful applicants recruited in the 774, 000 jobs scheme would be paid through their bank accounts using their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).
The minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo told the press at a briefing on Thursday, September 3, that the biometrics of successful applicants would be captured by the banks during the process.
According to The Nation, the minister stated that the use of BVN would ensure that the payment system is transparent.
