Lionel Messi is now reportedly on the verge of staying at Spanish side Barcelona at least until the end of his current contract following meeting with his father Jorge and the board.

Premier League club Manchester City have been named as the possible destination for Lionel Messi after the Argentine handed in a transfer request.

But Guardiola and his board have not made an official bid for the six-time Ballon d'Or winner who has refused to train this week at the Nou Camp.

Messi is said to be livid with the way things are been done at Barcelona most especially when the club hired Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

Koeman got the chance to return to Barcelona this time around as coach after Setien was sacked due to the side's embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The current situation forced Lionel Messi's father to travel to Spain for an emergency meeting with Barcelona board on Wednesday, September 2.

But according to the report by TYC Sports, there is 90 percent chance that Lionel Messi would remain at the Camp Nou and play for the Catalans next term.

"Messi is seriously evaluating staying in Barcelona until 2021 and leaving through the front door at the end of his contract,'' TYC Sports explained.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Sergio Ramos who is the captain of Spanish champions Real Madrid stated emphatically that Lionel Messi has the right over his future, but advised the Argentine to stay at the Nou Camp.

The Argentina international told Barcelona chiefs that he wants to leave following embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in which Messi failed to score.

Last two seasons, Barcelona were also sent out of the Champions League in an embarrassing fashion losing 4-0 against Premier League champions Liverpool.

But last term's defeat against Bayern Munich made Lionel Messi livid and felt the needed panacea is for him to leave this summer.
