APC to Governor Emmanuel: Stop insulting our leaders

Governor Udom Emmanuel has been warned not to insult leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom state.

The party said that the governor must stop insulting its leaders for their objective criticisms of his administration.

This was disclosed by the state acting chairman Ita Udosen in a news conference in Uyo on Tuesday, September 1.

Specifically, the party said Emmanuel verbally assaulted the senior special adviser to the president on Niger Delta Affairs, Ita Enang.

“If the governor does not desist from insulting APC leaders, we shall resort to holding him in contempt.

“In his media chat about two weeks ago, Governor Emmanuel made denigrating statements on Senator Ita Enang because he expressed his opinion on the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report which rated the state second on the unemployment index.

"He was embarrassed as an indigene considering the monthly revenue earned by the state.

"Ita urged parents to desist from buying Internet subscriptions (data) for their children to sing the governor’s praises on social media.

"As a party, we emphasise that Senator Enang’s assertion is faultless and we stand by everything he said.

“Like many other indigenes worried by the report, Enang expressed his concerns at the high unemployment problems in Akwa Ibom," the acting chairman said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng Emmanuel revealed that the Akwa Ibom state government has so far invested over N3 billion in ensuring citizens survive the COVID-19 pandemic.

The governor revealed this while addressing Akwa Ibom residents in a citizens’ feedback programme, streamed on both electronic and social media platforms on Saturday, July 25.

According to him, in order to ensure that Akwa Ibomites can access the best health care, three more containers filled with medicals equipment and supplies had been acquired and delivered to the state.

He further announced that his administration intends to up the ante in providing accessible and affordable medicare to Akwa Ibom people everywhere in the state.
