- A Nigerian mathematician, Tobi, has spoken about how she was sad when she almost got a first-class after seeing 4.491 grades
- After then, everything came tumbling down as she had to quit her job because she lost her peace of mind
- According to her, listening to one of Pastor Sam Adeyemi's messages made her realise the significance of gratitude
Sometimes in life, it is not the disappointment that comes our way that really matters, it is how we use it to chart our path that inspires others. A Nigerian lady with the Twitter name Tobi has inspired many with her story which took her a lot of strength and reflection to share.
Tobi’s disappointment started when she checked her final year CGPA in school and realised that she had 4.491, 0.009 away from the 4.5 which would have easily given her a first-class.
She said that dampened her so badly that she asked God why He brought her so close to something that she still would not get.
“I remember asking God, why didn’t you just leave me on a 4.2 or 4.3? Why did you bring me so close to leave me here?” she asked.
Tobi said that until that episode in her life, she did not know that so much of what she thinks of herself was connected to her academic performance.
This affected her so much that she had to leave her job. However, emotional rescue came when she listened to one of the podcasts of Pastor Sam Adeyemi which made her see the important place of gratitude.
After that encounter, she listed out the things that she has achieved, as she added that she somehow allowed the things that she could not reach make her throw the important things she had; her sound mind and job.
She, therefore, advised young graduates out there on the need not to define themselves with their grades.
Tobi added that she is very grateful for the supportive family and friends God surrounded her with as she announced that she is now officially a mathematician.
