- Pep Guardiola could be making a return to Spanish La Liga side Barcelona
- Barcelona's presidential candidate Toni Freixa is planning to hire the Spaniard
- Freixa is not happy with how the Catalans failed to win any title last season
Toni Freixa who is among the candidates in race to become next Barcelona president has stated emphatically in his manifesto that he would bring back Pep Guardiola to Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola is one of the best football managers in the world considering the titles he has won most especially when he was in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Although the Spaniard has not won the Champions League with Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola has lifted the Premier League title twice at the Etihad stadium.
Barcelona chiefs are trying to handle their issues before the start of the 2020/21 League season having finished last term without a trophy.
They were unable to retain their Spanish La Liga title and also suffered big defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Catalans are also in a big mess over the future of Messi who has told them that he wants to leave with reports linking him with Manchester City.
Losing Lionel Messi will be a big blow for Barcelona as it will be hard for them to find a good replacement like the Argentine.
“Pep once let it be known that he would like to head the Barca academy in the future, but he would also be a wonderful solution for the first team.
“The important thing is that the team plays successful and exciting football again, and that nothing like what happened against Bayern happens.
“They exposed us for over 90 minutes, all the mistakes and failures of the team, but even more so the weaknesses of the sporting leadership in recent years. It was the end of the end. Now it's time for a change,'' Freixa told Goal.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Croatia international Ivan Rakitic is reportedly having medical examination at Spanish La Liga side Sevilla over a big summer move from Barcelona.
This means that Ivan Rakitic is among the players who have been told to leave Barcelona by new coach Ronald Koeman.
Massive overhauling is said to be expected at Barcelona which has started since their defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
According to the report by Marca, the 32-year-old has agreed to rejoin Sevilla this summer and the Europa League winners will only need to agree with Barcelona chiefs.
