Former governor Ayodele Fayose has called on his political associates not to castigate Engr Segun Oni on any social media platforms associated with Osoko political family.

Fayose said this via a statement on his Twitter handle.

He said since Oni who was also a former governor has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), there is no need to castigate, embarrass or undermine him again.

"To my brothers & sisters in the PDP Osoko Political Family, having formally received Engr Segun Oni into the PDP at yesterday's State Congress, henceforth, nobody should castigate, embarrass or undermine him (Oni) on any social media platforms associated with Osoko Political Family," he wrote.

Going further, Fayose said his statement does not mean he has endorsed the governorship ambition of the former governor. He said this is in efforts to keep the party together.

"True leadership is demonstrated by forgiveness, followed by restoration after a show of true humility. However, this statement does not represent or amount to endorsement of Engr Segun Oni’s gubernatorial ambition.

"Rather, it is part of our sincere efforts to keep the party together and accommodate everyone, except those members who are due for political perdition."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Fayose clarified his statement regarding the chances of Governor Godwin Obaseki winning the forthcoming Edo state governorship election.

The former governor also accused Bode George, a chieftain of the PDP, of deliberately reading different meaning to what he said for his own political gain.

Fayose had allegedly said on a TV programme that despite being a member of the PDP, it would be difficult for him to support Obaseki’s re-election bid.

Legit.ng had also reported that Fayose unleashed his displeasure over the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo, an erstwhile Nigerian president.

Fayose on Tuesday, August 11, said that if he becomes president, he will send Obasanjo back to prison for alleged financial corruption that characterised his government for eight years
