President Muhammadu Buhari has decried the crises and feuds in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) was embroiled with during and after the 2019 general elections.

Speaking during the consultative meeting among the executive, legislative and the party leadership at the Presidential Villa on Monday, August 31, Buhari said different rancours in APC has led to unnecessary squabbles.

According to the president, this has cost the party too much as APC lost many legislative and executive seats during the 2019 election.

The president warned against the reoccurrence of what the party was embroiled with in the past and called for unity among members.

Apart from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the meeting was also attended by the leadership of the ninth National Assembly represented by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege and Senate president, Ahmed Lawan.

Legit.ng recalls that during the meeting, President Buhari intervened in the friction often ensuing between the legislative and executive arms of the federal government.

The president did this by inaugurating a party consultative committee which will henceforth act as a middle body to mediate peace and bring about synergy between both arms of the government.

Moreover, on his part, the Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, after the inaugural ceremony inauguration, said actions of presidential appointees that tarnish the image of the country by abusing the legislature will no longer be tolerated.

Meanwhile, APC said the current President Buhari-led government has commenced the implementation of the 2014 national confab report.

The party made this disclosure in its September edition of “The Progressives”, its monthly journal published in collaboration with the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).

The ruling party also revealed that the move is to recognise the efforts put in place by the administration of former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan which facilitated the national conference in 2014.
