Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof flaunted his defensive skills after helping a 90-year- old woman retrieve her bag from an alleged bike thief who forcefully dispossessed her.

The 26-year-old was on a date with his wife when he saw the old woman losing her valuables to the thief around 10.30 am.

SunSport quoting Sportbladet reveals that the Red Devils star pursued the assailant and recovered the bag while he held on to the perpetrator until the police arrived.

A statement read: "The police would like to thank the witness for a rapid and sensible intervention made to restore the plaintiff's property."

A Man United spokesperson added: "He ran after the thief and got the bag back without using any violence. "Victor believes he was just doing what anybody would have done in that situation."

Reports claim the robber in his 30s was released by the authorities, but will face charges of "aggravated theft" and "minor drug offences".

The defender is enjoying his summer holiday in his home country with his wife Maja after helping the Red Devils qualify for Champions League next season.

He made 47 appearances for the Red Devils across competitions in the 2019-20 season and headed home to regain momentum ahead of the coming season.
