President appoints ex-Super Eagles star Special Assistant on Sports

- Amokachi played 44 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and scored 13 goals

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi as his Special Assistant on Sports matters in what is a big achievement for the ex-Everton star.

Daniel Amokachi was one of the great strikers Nigeria had considering his superb performances when he was at the Super Eagles and all the clubs he played for.

The 47-year-old former Nasarawa United striker got his letter of appointment on Thursday, August 20, from the Sports Minister Sunday Dare.

As Special Assistant on Sports, Amokachi is expected to advise the President on all sports matters and not only football which he is known for.

The Former Everton of England player was earlier in the year named Nigeria's Football Ambassador and he is now expected to leave the office.

“I am pleased to inform you that Muhammadu Buhari President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has approved your appointment as Special Assistant on Sports.

“The appointment takes effect from the 11th of August, 2020,'' written in the letter given to Daniel Amokachi.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported how Nigerian coach Ndubuisi Egbo has landed another career achievement after steering his club FK Tirana to a 2-0 win over Dinamo in the Champions League qualifying game.

The ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper is now the first African coach to record a win in the Champions League after his side's victory over Dinamo on Wednesday night, August 19.

Terrassa gave Ndubuisi Egbo‘s led side the lead at the stroke of half time, before Celhaka scored second in the 86th minute to give FK Tirana a good win.

Egbo and his wards will now be hoping that they do well in the Champions League second leg for them to make it to the final round of the qualifiers which could lead them to the group stage.

Ndubuisi Egbo is also the first African to win a League title in Europe when he led FK Tirana to the Albanian league crown last season.
