Manchester United goalie Sergio Romero has reportedly emerged as summer transfer target for Premier League side Chelsea with topflight returnees Leeds also interested.

The 33-year-old Argentine goalie is tired of playing second fiddle to David De Gea at Old Trafford and he is said to have told Manchester United chiefs that he wants regular games.

Despite David De Gea's poor performances last season for Manchester United, manager Ole Solskjaer kept faith in the Spanish goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is said to have returned to Old Trafford from Sheffield United where he played on loan and the Englishman is also targeting the number one shirt.

Romero is now likely to be behind the talented England stopper and David De Gea in the United pecking order if he should stay this summer.

And according to the report by UK Sun, Chelsea are preparing to go for Sergio Romero this summer with Frank Lampard interested in replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa, on the other hand, failed to impress at Stamford Bridge last season as Chelsea failed to win any trophy under Frank Lampard.

The Blues will however face competition from Leeds United and Everton for the transfer of Sergio Romero from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Chelsea also have Willy Caballero on their books, but the Argentine stopper who turns 39 next month has just a year left on his contract.
