President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja.
According to The Nation, Oshiomhole was on Monday, August 17, seen with Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the president's chief of staff dressed in his traditional khaki suit heading towards Buhari’s office.
Details of the meeting are not known yet at the time of filing this report. However, it may be connected with the alleged plot to return Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the ruling party.
It would be recalled that a chieftain of the party, Salihu Lukman, accused Oshiomhole of hatching fresh plots to return as the chairman.
Lukman who is the director-general of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) claimed there were moves to undermine the caretaker committee to achieve the goal ahead of the party’s national convention.
The APC chieftain in a letter to the caretaker committee said the plot is being hatched to use the Edo governorship poll to bully APC leaders to submission.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the deputy governor of Edo state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, said he fell out with Oshiomhole because he refused to do the bidding of the former APC national chairman.
Shaibu stated this when he spoke to journalists in Benin city, the Edo state capital on Thursday, August 6.
According to him, Oshiomhole wanted him to impeach his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki, which he said he turned down.
Shaibu said he begged Oshiomhole to let go of any grievance he had against Obaseki because the governor was doing well for the Edo people, a plea which Shaibu says fell on deaf ears.
In a related development, the candidate of the Labour Party in the September 19 governorship election in Edo state, Dr. Isaiah Osifo, has called on President Buhari to rein in on the sacked national chairman of the APC.
Osifo asked the president to stop the leadership of the APC in Edo state from plunging the state into anarchy.
Addressing a press conference in Benin city on Thursday, August 6, following the failed invasion of the Edo state House of Assembly (EDHA) by some policemen, Osifo urged Oshiomhole and his violent conspirators to approach the judiciary for a peaceful resolution.
