Barcelona have reported a positive result after nine senior team players who returned to the club were tested for the dreaded coronavirus on Thursday, August 6.
The Catalan giants are due to face Bayern Munich in a mouthwatering Champions League quarter final clash on Friday, August 14.
Barcelona however say that the affected player is not a member of the squad that will fly out on Thursday ahead of their cracker against the German champions.
According to the club, nine of their players returned on Tuesday and they had their tests and medical checks on Wednesday ahead of Thursday training as they have just returned from their respective loan spells.
"After the PCR tests carried out yesterday Tuesday afternoon to the group of nine players who today have to start pre-season, one of them has tested positive for Covid-19,” the club said in a statement.
"The affected person is asymptomatic, is in good health and is isolated at home.
And this is coming barely 24 hours that another Spanish club Valencia reported that recorded cases of coronavirus in their team after random tests were conducted during their training session.
Two unnamed players tested positive to the deadly virus that has become a huge worry to humanity in the past months.
Another La Liga club Atletico Madrid recently discovered two of their players were also infested with the virus ahead of their remaining Champions League campaign.
Just like Atletico, Valencia have sent their players back home to self-isolate themselves in their respective homes.
