Nigerian minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Wednesday, August 12, disclosed to fellow citizens that he has recovered from the coronavirus pandemic.
Onyeama who made this revelation on Wednesday on his verified Twitter page said that results of the test recently conducted on him prove that he is now negative to the virus.
The excited minister said: "By the very special grace of God my latest #COVID19 test result came back negative after three weeks isolation.
"I am eternally grateful to my family, the C-in-C and VP, the medical team, relations, friends, colleagues, religious leaders and numerous well-wishers, who through their care, prayers, fasting, messages of support and encouragement never let me walk alone."
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Onyeama had tested positive to coronavirus. The minister made the disclosure via his Twitter handle on Sunday, July 19.
According to him, he had a throat irritation and he decided to get tested for the fourth time and it came back positive.
The minister revealed that he was heading for isolation in a health facility while hoping for a full recovery. Onyeama's friend, late Mallam Abba Kyari, died of the virus a few months ago.
In a glowing tribute, the foreign affairs minister revealed how he and Kyari have been friends for decades and praised his friend's work ethic as a private individual and subsequently, government official.
The Enugu-born minister had also been very active as a member of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 headed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
