EFCC arrests 3 corpers, 19 undergraduates, 10 others for alleged internet fraud

The fight against cybercrime and advanced fraud hit a big breakthrough as the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 32 cyber fraudsters.

The disclosure was contained in a statement issued by the anti-graft agency on Tuesday, August 11, via a tweet on its official Twitter page.

EFCC said among the arrested fraudsters, three of them are serving corps members while 19 are undergraduates in Nigerian institutions.

The commission also disclosed that the fraudsters were arrested after intelligence report in Ogbomosho area of Oyo state by its Ibadan zonal office operatives.

"The suspects were apprehended during a raid on their hideout in Ogbomoso, Oyo state. Officers of the EFCC swept on the location after diligent analysis of a series of intelligence gathered on their alleged criminal activities," EFCC said.

Items recovered from the Yahoo boys include cars, laptops and mobile gadgets of sophisticated grades.

They have been paraded by the commission and will be charged to court accordingly.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Social media celebrity and skit maker Adedamola Adewale Rukayat Adeherself is set to regain her freedom from the custody of EFCC after she was picked up some weeks ago over an alleged internet fraud case.

The skit-maker who received backlash on social media following her alleged involvement in internet scam was recently granted bail at the sum of N500k by an Ikeja special offence court.

Recall that some weeks ago fans of the young lady were thrown into a state of frenzy after the EFCC disclosed that she was among other suspects who were nabbed during a special raid.

The anti-graft agency in an official statement shared on Twitter said the young lady and some others were picked up in different areas of Lagos.

Adeherself was in the custody of the EFCC after she was arraigned on July 7.
