TV, specifically comedy fans are in mourning following the sudden demise of legendary actor Raymond Allen of the popular show Sanford and Son.
It was learnt the actor who used to play Woodrow or Woody Anderson in the popular 1970s comedy died on Monday, August 10, aged 91.

News about his death was first made public and confirmed by his daughter Ta-Ronce Allen through her Facebook page on Tuesday, August 11.
"What a day this is been. I am so surrounded by love from friends and family. This has been one of the hardest days of my life I lost my father Raymond Allen and my cousin Deborah Doll (his niece). They are now both being held by the wings of angels,'' she wrote.
Legit.ng understands the iconic actor was suffering from a respiratory-related ailment.
Raymond's family took a moment to confirm to the world that the actor did not die from COVID-19 as earlier alleged by a cross-section of world media.

Medics were called in and they tried to revive him in vain as he had already gone.
Until his death the had struggled with pneumonia for many years, his family confirmed to TMZ.
Allen had not been well for many years and his family had checked him into the California health care facility in 2016.
Allen was an integral part of Sanford And Son which aired from 1972 and 1977.
