The crisis over the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state has taken a dramatic turn as Biodun Olujimi, former Senate minority leader, dusted off defection rumour.
Olujimi was said to have been planning to dump the opposition party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of state former governor, Ayodele Fayose.
But while lifting the lid, the lawmaker said she is still in PDP and would not dump the party for any reason be it personal or political.
Addressing journalist on Sunday, August 9, in Ado-Ekiti, the PDP chieftain said she would not succumb to the campaign of calumny channelled against her "soaring political relevance" in Ekiti by the former governor.
Olujimi said she cannot be intimidated by any force, adding that Fayose was trying to take advantage of her gender to sideline her from the control of the party.
“I wonder why Fayose who was governor for eight years would be struggling to wrestle powers with ordinary Senator," Olujimi said.
“The bottom line is that if you have done well, you won’t need to wrestle at all. Fayose that I worked with and I had great respect for? How did he lose it? He needs to answer that.
“For me, contrary to insinuation, I am wholly PDP through and through. They tried to brand me APC because I worked well with people, especially Mrs. Fayemi."
On the 2022 governorship election in the state, Senator Olujimi said she is "eminently qualified to participate."
In a related development, Legit.ng reported that members of APC in Ekiti including Babafemi Ojudu, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, have accused Governor Kayode Fayemi of making attempt to silence the voices of dissents in the state's party chapter.
The aggrieved members numbering sixteen raised the complaints in a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, in another unfolding drama that is about to trail the APC leadership crisis at the national level.
