Darius Ihaku, governor of Taraba state, has sacked his chief press secretary Hassan Mijinyawa and replaced him with his (Mjinyawa's) deputy, Iliya Beckyu.
According to The Nation, Mijinyawa was relieved of his position as the governor's CPS in a shocking event that came hours after his daughter's wedding ceremony.
The former CPS, it was gathered, allegedly abused protocol as he was said to have delayed the reception ceremony of the wedding, leaving top dignitaries including the governor who was represented by his deputy in rage.
Mjinyawa stepped on toes after holding back the orders of the programme because of the minister of power, Alhaji Saleh Maman, who was also billed to attend the wedding.
The delay forced Ishaku's deputy and other dignitaries who graced the occasion to wait for 30 minutes and later prompted them to leave in annoyance.
The unfortunate development was brought to the governor's notice who, after two hours, announced the sack of the chief press secretary.
Although the media office of the governor said Mijinyawa's sacking was purely administrative, people who witnessed the wedding fathia said the development was based on what transpired at Mijinyawa's residence.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that as the probe into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) hit the potent point, President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to sack the agency's interim management committee led by Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei.
The Senate called for the IMC dissolution during a plenary on Thursday, July 23, after the probe panel led by Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi said it discovered various financial infractions and reckless spendings in the account of the commission.
The upper legislative chamber also recommended that the NDDC should be relocated back to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for proper supervision.
