Ahead of the Edo gubernatorial election, It seems that Governor Godwin Obaseki is facing a lot of obstacles and hurdles to retain his seat in the state.

This is the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagged off its campaign in the state on Saturday, August 8, in Benin City, The Cable reports.

The launch of the APC's campaign was attended by governors on the platform of the party such as Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Abubakar Bello, Hope Uzodinma, Dapo Abiodun, Nasir el-Rufai and Mai Mala Buni among others.

Stalwarts of the ruling party which also attended the high-profile event were Ovie Omo-Agege, the deputy senate president, Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC's governorship candidate in the state.

Speaking on the resolve of the APC concerning the coming election in Edo, Buni said: “We are in Edo State to take back our state.”

“Four years ago, we were here and you voted for the APC and we know that you will do it again. We urge you not to be violent because victory is ours and we are here to win.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Peoples Democratic Party had given its opinion as to why the APC national leader, Bola Asiwaju Tinibu, was angry with Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo.

According to a statement by the PDP's national spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, published on Saturday, August 8, the APC leader was at odds with Obaseki because he refused to follow the orders of the cabal in the ruling party.

Ologbondiyan alleged that Tinubu's anger proves that some power blocks in the APC had a hand in the attempt to seize the Edo state House of Assembly recently.

Supporting to the PDP's spokesman's position, Chief Dan Orbih, the chairman of the party's campaign council in Edo called on Tinubu to allow the electorate in the state to choose their leader in the coming gubernatorial poll.
