Michael Ojo was confirmed dead at the age of 27 after he suffered heart attack during training at the Partizan stadium in Belgrade, Serbia according to local media reports, cited in SunSport.

Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive as he was immediately transferred to the emergency centre of the facility before he was declared dead.

The Nigerian-American star who began his career in 2017 played all his professional games in Serbia.

It was gathered that Ojo was a member of the Florida State who, as a senior player, averaged 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

However, he chose to sign a contract with Serbian side Kosarkaski klub FMP, commonly known as KK FMP, as he shunned the popular and famous NBA.

And one year later, he joined Crvena Zvezda, a major part of the Red Star multi-sports club who also have a football team.

SunSport reports that Ojo played in the center and was 7ft 1 in tall weighing 139.7kg.

His shoe size was 21, so big Nike reportedly invested £11.5million in a machine to create a sneaker that properly fit him.

Last year he won the Serbian top tier, the Adriatic League title, with Zvezda.

Recall that the basketball world was thrown into deep mourning earlier in the year when former Los Angeles Lakers basketball star, Kobe Bryant, passed on after he was involved in a helicopter crash in Calabasas on the morning of January 26. According to reports, the crash took him and four others.

Bryant was traveling with four other people in his private helicopter when it crashed, killing everyone on board. His daughter, Gianna was also on board.

Legit.ng earlier reported that African football fraternities was thrown into mourning following the shocking death of 21-year-old Cameroonian footballer Joseph Bouasse who died from heart attack.

According to the report on UK Sun, Joseph Bouasse died on Sunday night, May 24. At the age of 16, Joseph Bouasse moved to Italy from Cameroon with the hopes of him getting his career better by playing football to the highest level.

Sadly, he never played for Roma's first team as he was loaned to Serie B side Vizenza from where he faced the exit doors.
