Stale Solbakken is still basking in euphoria over FC Copenhagen’s qualification for the Europa League quarterfinal after leading the side to defeat Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.
The manager is full of delight and now ready to face favourites Manchester United in the quarterfinal of this season’s competition and has urged his players to go all out against the Red Devils.
Manchester United overcame LASK 7-1 on aggregates to progress to the last eight with Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial adding to the 5-0 first leg win despite Philipp Wiesinger opening the scoring.
United and Copenhagen face each other and Solbakken has stated that he can’t wait to face his old friend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while promising his players something special.
He said: “If you beat United you can have my bonus and then you have no worries for the rest of your life."
Solbakken recalls the time he shared the same dressing room with Solskjaer in Norway and maintained that both still have a very good relationship.
"We did our coaching badges together in Copenhagen, so we have a good relationship.”
“Everything has to go for us and against United if we're to stand any chance,” he said.
“The two teams under the most pressure to win the Europa League are United and Inter Milan.
“Both have already qualified for the Champions League, but haven't won a trophy and they're huge clubs who will see this as a big opportunity to do that.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Man United youngster Tahith Chong could be on his way out of the club to continue his development in the German Bundesliga.
The winger came through the ranks at United before making his breakthrough into the senior team in 2018.
However, two years later, Chong has failed to establish himself as a first team regular at the Theatre of Dreams.
He has endured limited game timethis season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but was part of the Red Devils squad that beat LASK 2-1 in a Europa League tie on Wednesday night, August 5.
