Veteran comedian Ali Baba has joined several Nigerians who have been taken by worry following the revelation that the country may lose its sovereignty to China.
The respected entertainer in a post shared on his Instagram page noted that the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has given the assurance that the loans taken from the Chinese government will be paid back.
Noting his doubt in reports about the country losing sovereignty to China, the comedian said Nigerians simply like sensational reports.
"I think Nigerians just like sensational news. Our sovereignty has been sold to China. Really? Let’s read and comprehend news before falling for people who want to drive traffic," his post read in part.

However, the veteran act went on to note that he has started learning the Chinese national anthem and pledge.
He also posted a video of a Chinese tutor reading from a marker board.

Several followers were spotted reacting to his post in the comment section. One lady asked the comedian why Nigerians should trust the transportation minister.
She said: "Why should we trust the words of Amaechi though? Did he specifically say they will finish payment before their tenure in government elapses in 2023."

The former lawmaker said there is more to the defence of transport minister, Amaechi, on the mode of payment.
According to the politician, by 2040 when Nigeria may have concluded the payment, many of the infrastructures built with the loans may have depreciated.
