A former aide to Adams Oshiomhole, Chief Charles Idahosa, has made some allegations that linked him with the leadership crisis in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The former adviser to the former chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC) said that Oshiomhole is the originator of the power tussle in the commission.
Idahosa claimed that Oshiomhole used some National Assembly bigwigs to appoint board members of the NDDC chaired by Pius Obudu.
He alleged: "He tried to create problem among the Edo South people. He nominated Pius Odubu despite knowing that the law setting up the NDDC made it clear that the appointment of chairman should be based on an alphabetical order.
"The first state that produced the chairman of NDDC was Abia in the person of Chief Onyema Ugochukwu. The last state that produced the chairman of the NDDC was Cross River, the next state was Delta but Oshiomhole jumped Delta and moved it to Edo."
Oshiomhole's former ally went on to say that when President Muhammadu Buhari noticed this, he immediately dissolved the board and removed Odubu from the office.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Isa Sadiq Raddah, member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), had made another revelation as the probe into the NDDC hit new dimension.
Speaking at a workshop in Sokoto, Raddah, who is also a member of the commission's forensic audit committee, said about 12,000 projects which were paid for through the agency were abandoned.
The PACAC member further added that 1,700 contractors got mobilisation fees from NDDC and vanished without executing the projects.
Raddah's revelation surfaced barely twenty-four hours after the Senate probe panel investigating alleged financial recklessness in the NDDC disclosed that billions of naira were aimlessly squandered under the Kemebradikumo Pondei-led leadership.
He said: “NDDC for 20 years has gotten over $40 billion. And when you calculate $40 billion into naira, we are talking of N116 trillion."
