The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, counted the blessings God gave the church during coronavirus lockdown at the ongoing 2020 Annual Convention on Monday, August 3.

The Cable reports that the convention is holding online from the Redemption Camp situated along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and streamed worldwide.

While referring to the theme of the programme titled Wonderful, a caption which was chosen in 2019 before the pandemic, the cleric said that the things that had happened since then showed that God was intentional about the theme.

Adeboye told RCCG church members that despite everything that has happened, the church was still able to reach out to them wherever they may be and still have a “very, very wonderful convention”.

“Can you imagine why the Almighty God chose the theme for this Convention, even at a time when we had no idea how it is going to be?

“Now we have a Convention that is truly a world convention because all our brothers and sisters across the world are part and parcel of what is going on now,” he said.

The pastor added that the lockdown situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has shown that house fellowships are a very important part of the church.

He said that even when churches were closed, the house fellowship still continued, saying that “God is always a step ahead of the enemy”.

Adeboye said that the activeness of the fellowship was one of the blessings that happened to the church during the lockdown.

“One of the benefits of the lockdown was that House Fellowships became more active, with people turning their homes into House Churches, opening their homes to God,” he said.

The man of God cited 2 Samuel 6:11 to show how those who offer their homes for house fellowships always get tremendously blessed.

He also noted that many branches of RCCG started out from that small but significant home unit. Adeboye referenced 1 Kings 17 as he used the experience of the widow of Zarephath to highlight the blessings that come to people’s homes during fellowships.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Pastor Adeboye released four powerful prayers for all children to usher them into the month of July.

On his Twitter account on Wednesday, July 1, the clergyman prayed for joy, progress, success and a closer walk with God.
