Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has continued his humanitarian activities in Monguno, where he delivered food aid to over 80,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP).

Legit.ng gathered that this is coming two days after insurgents attacked his convoy at Baga town.

The governor arrived for a humanitarian tour where he supervised the distribution of relief items including bags of grains and cooking oil to IDPs and vulnerable households from Marte, Guzamala, Kukawa, Nganzai, and Monguno.

Male households received bags of grain and cooking oil, while females received cash amount of N5,000 each.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General I. Garba, the sector 3 Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole commended Zulum’s resilience.

Garba made this known when the governor paid a visit to the soldiers, and officers of the Nigerian military at the Nasara Barracks, Monguno.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of the governor of Borno state at Baga, a town in the northern state, on Wednesday, July 29.

The Borno governor was on his way to some internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the northern part of the state when the incident happened.

“The governor went to Kukawa, and on his way to Baga his convoy was attacked. Nobody was injured,” the source was quoted to have said.

In a related development, Governor Zulum of Borno has directed his fury to the Nigerian Army (NA) over the attack on his convoy by insurgents at Baga town.

Zulum, confronting the commanding officer in Mile 4, stated that despite claims of victory over Boko Haram, the terrorists still had the upper hand to unleash the attack.

The furious governor mentioned that even with the presence of 1,181 soldiers in Kukawa local government area, terrorists still thrive.

Zulum said that since this is the case, he will ask for the redeployment of the soldiers to another place where they are needed.
