A Nigerian man on Twitter identified as @harrydaniyan has left internet users feeling inspired after sharing a powerful story about his mother’s experience back in the days.
@harrydaniyan narrated how his mum had joined the Government College as a teacher in Ibadan after she graduated from university in 1965.
Upon joining the school, members of staff were given a car loan which was to be paid back over the period of four years.
However, among the teachers who took the loan, one of them split the money in half and went for a fairly used car instead of a new one like his colleagues did.
The man also got a driver after he bought the car. So when other colleagues drove to school and parked their cars, the man’s driver brought him in the morning and came back to pick him during closing hours.
@harrydaniyan said his mother told him that they used to laugh at the man back then but he would just smile back at them.
However, one day, a fellow teacher spotted the man’s driver cruising around in his car and quickly brought the information to his knowledge.
Instead of flaring up, he simply informed them that he was aware. Apparently, he had been using the car as a taxi and also using proceeds from it to fund his car loan.
Other teachers who had mocked him suddenly realized that he made a smart move than the rest of them.
