Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has described Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo as the Michael Jordan of football considering his achievements so far.
Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are regarded as the best footballers of the past 10 years as these two players have proven and convinced fans with their performances.
The Portuguese international started his career on the streets in his native country before he joined Sporting Lisbon from where he moved to Premier League side Manchester United.
And during his stay at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo taught Jesse Lingard and some other young players some skills.
While speaking ahead of the start of the NBA season, Jesse Lingard was asked to name the player he thinks falls in the same category with basketball star like Michael Jordan.
Without missing words, the England international snubbed the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar as he named Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I have to say Cristiano Ronaldo. Everything he has achieved in his career. He has been at plenty of clubs and won many trophies.
''I believe he is a real icon of football, the Michael Jordan of football.
"When Ronaldo first came to Manchester United, I was 11 or 12. We did a skills DVD and it was him teaching us skills, which was good.
''That was the first time I had seen him. He was young and skinny when he came to the club,'' Lingard explained according to Sky Sports.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Cristiano Ronaldo received great encomium from football great Pele who was impressed with his incredible performances which has helped Juventus win the Serie A title for this season.
The Portugal international who joined Juventus last two seasons from Real Madrid has now won two Italian League titles with the Old Lady.
With two games to end the season in Italy, Juventus are champions regardless the outcome of their final two games of the term.
Ronaldo who has been superb since football returned to Europe has also scored 31 goals for the Old Lady this term and should end up winning the golden boot.
According to the report by UK Sun, Brazilian legend Pele described Ronaldo as the best modern day athlete stressing that he is proud of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
