Political activist, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the criticism of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) TV reality show by some prominent Nigerians.
Some Nigerians who feel that the show lacks moral value have been criticising the programme.
But Sani has reacted by saying the attitude of some people is to watch the programme and then just criticise it.
The former senator stated that rather than watching and criticising the show, people who do not like the reality show should not watch it at all.
"Some elders approach to #BBNaija is to watch & attack, watch & condemn instead of not to watch at all," he said.
In another report, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has debunked claims that he directed the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to suspend the BBNaija show.
A statement made by Mohammed's media aide, Segun Adeyemi, outrightly distanced the minister from the purported order to the NBC, PM News reports.
Adeyemi said that if the minister gave the order to the commission concerning the reality show, it would have come in the form of a memo and not just verbally.
Mohammed's spokesman said: "That statement is not credited to the minister. We will not dignify speculative reports; if a minister issues a directive, it will not be issued verbally.
Meanwhile, popular Nollywood actress, Maryam Charles, has slammed a BBNaija 2020 housemate, Nengi, for the method she is employing to get popular on the reality TV show.
Maryam on her new Instagram page on Sunday, July 26, said that the way the housemate goes around almost half-naked is a thing that really displeases her.
She added that trying hard to play the Mercy card because she won the last edition of the show is not a smart move, saying that the former winner is the not kind of person to use as a role model.
The actress also used the opportunity to appeal to young girls, telling them not to look towards people like Mercy and Nengi as role models.
Still on entertainment, few days into the BBNaija reality show and it appears the peace and harmony that has been present in the house is fast slipping away. Just recently, female housemates Kaisha and Lucy became the second set of housemates to get into an ugly exchange and resorted to hurling abusive words at each other.
The drama had started after Kaisha complained about sleeping in the dark and Lucy came after her. Lucy, who seemed to have had enough of Kaisha’s complaint, tried to get her to stop talking about it, but this got the Hausa housemate riled up.
In a blink of an eye what started as a little exchange built up to the point of both housemates shouting at the top of their voices as they hurled abusive words at each other.
