Adams Oshiomhole has said that it was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that provided the evidence that was used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee to disqualify Governor Godwin Obaseki from participating in the party’s Edo primary.

The former national chairman of the APC told a crowd of supporters in Benin City on Thursday, July 23, that the PDP provided the evidence back in 2016 in a suit instituted against Obaseki.

He said the PDP suit was struck out because the party filed out of time, The Sun reported.

The ex-APC chairman explained that the party disqualified Obaseki from the primaries after it learned from the mistake in Bayelsa state which led to its governorship candidate being disqualified by a court.

He alleged that Obaseki has forged documents and might be sacked by a court just like the case in Bayelsa state.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the APC for the September 19 gubernatorial election in Edo state, is reportedly leading Governor Godwin Obaseki, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an online poll conducted by Ripples Nigeria.

The online poll has 4,292 votes as at 7:14 pm on Wednesday, July 22.

In the result, 48% of respondents said they will vote for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu while 46% picked Obaseki.

Five per cent of the respondents picked other candidates aside the two main challengers.

Reacting to the result, John Mayaki, the chairman of the Edo state APC media campaign council, said the poll was sponsored by Governor Godwin Obaseki to test his might.

In another report, a chieftain of the PDP in Edo, Chief Dan Orbih has said that the state “is not the property of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.” Orbih, a former chairman of the PDP in Edo made the comment in Benin, the state capital on Tuesday, July 21.

The PDP chieftain who is also the zonal chairman of PDP south-south, was speaking at the inauguration of the party's campaign council in the state.
