Former Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has expressed sadness over the football career of Sunday Mba who currently has no club to play for.

Seven years ago, Sunday Mba was the biggest Nigerian footballer considering how he scored the goal that gave Nigeria the 2013 African Cup of Nations title in South Africa.

Sunday Mba was playing then for Enugu Rangers in the Nigerian topflight and was given the chance to play for the Super Eagles by former gaffer Stephen Keshi.

Mba justified his position in the Super Eagles at the AFCON 2013 by netting two goals, most importantly the winner against Burkina Faso.

After Nigeria won the 2013 AFCON title, Sunday Mba was linked with many top European sides with Portsmouth even said to have offered him a big deal.

He did not make the move to the English club with French side Bordeaux also after him.

Amokachi has now made it clear that Sunday Mba's lifestyle and failed move to Bordeaux really affected his career.

“Mba has been going back and forth. He played in the second division in Turkey, he was playing, I think his lifestyle didn’t help him a bit and the contract he had in France after the AFCON destabilized him a bit,'' he told Brila FM.
