Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has stated emphatically that Lille striker Victor Osimhen has the potential of becoming greater than Didier Drogba.

Drogba was among the best strikers in the world during his active playing days for Chelsea in which he scored many incredible goals for the Stamford Bridge landlords.

The likes of Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, and Kanu Nwankwo are regarded as the most successful African strikers considering the number of titles they won in Europe.

Victor Osimhen on the other hand was also brilliant throughout last season for Lille and his performances made him a target for Italian side Napoli.

Many times, the Super Eagles striker has been compared with former Chelsea star Didier Drogba and his ex-coach Emmanuel Amuneke has now expressed his opinion.

Amuneke who took Victor Osimhen to Chile five years ago where they won the Under-17 World Cup stated the Nigerian can be better than Didier Drogba.

“Victor is still young, he has still a long road to reach Didier's level. But in my opinion, one day he could become even better than him. Maybe by playing in the Serie A.

“To change championship and country again, after Germany, Belgium and France, will let him experience a new reality and to improve as a man and player,'' Amuneke told Tuttomercato Web.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Osimhen has agreed to a deal with Napoli and the club are planning to unveil the Nigerian striker on Friday, July 24.

Osimhen is now on the verge of becoming the highest paid Nigerian footballer in history.
