CAN calls for boycott of BBNaija show, tags it 'evil'

- BBNaija reality show has been heavily criticized by CAN

- The chairman of the association in Rivers, Stanley Dimkpa, said the reality show should be ditched for others that promote justice, morals and activities that please God

- According to him, the show is evil because of the immorality portrayed by housemates

- Dimpka urged Nigerians and other political office holders to join the campaign against BBNaija

Just a few days into the fifth season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) and the reality show has started receiving its fair share of criticisms from those who do not find it entertaining.

One such body is the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) who recently criticized the programme and called for it to be completely boycotted.

Speaking against the new season of the show, the Rivers state branch chairman, Stanley Dimkpa, on Tuesday in Port Harcourt said shows that promote justice, morals and activities that please God should be encouraged.

Dimkpa while expressing his strong reservations against the reality show also called on political office holders and other well-meaning Nigerians to join the protest in seeing the programme completely scrapped.

He said the immorality which is being portrayed by BBNaija housemates in the show should be completely condemned as it breeds evil.

I want to emphasize Big Brother Naija because all of us have to fight collectively to stop this immoral act and injustice in our land, as Christians and Africans, we have respect for mankind.

“For those of us that have allowed our friends and families to encourage the patronage of Big Brother Naija, know that it is an evil and we must clampdown on it,” Dimpka said.

The Twitter user criticized Kaisha, a lady from Sokoto who is the first Hausa lady to be a part of the show. According to him, no sensible father from the north would allow his daughter to get into the Big Brother house.
