Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has tested positive for the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Legit.ng reports that the governor announced the news via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 22, adding that he has gone on self-isolation.
He said he would delegate critical tasks to his deputy while he would continue routine duty from home.
"I took my third COVID-19 test yesterday and it came back positive. I'm generally ok and I'm already self-isolating at home and receiving the best of care from my medical team. I'm delegating critical tasks to my deputy but will continue routine duty from home," he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Ekiti state was plunged into anxiety after Governor Fayemi disclosed he took coronavirus test after meeting with two confirmed cases.
It was reported that Fayemi made this known in a tweet on his verified official Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, March, 25.
The governor's revelation came in barely twenty-four hours after President Muhammadu Buhari's chief of staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive to the deadly infection.
It was reported that the fear at Aso Rock was heightened as three aides who established contact with the chief of staff also tested positive to the virus.
Fayemi on Tuesday evening, March 24, confirmed that two of the people who he had a meeting with tested positive.

In a related report, Governor Fayemi tweeted on Friday, March 27, that he was happy that he tested negative for coronavirus after he received his result from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The governor had revealed on Wednesday, March 26, that he had gone into self-isolation following his meetings with two persons who have tested positive.
Speaking on Wednesday, March 26, Fayemi who was optimistic that he would come out “all clear” in the end, stated that he had also taken a test for the disease.
In a tweet on Friday, March 27, Fayemi revealed that his test result has returned and it showed that he tested negative for the disease.
